​Thomasen Knight will tell us about the Renewable Energy Alliance's regional leaders network, a facilitated peer learning network connecting rural and regional leaders who are experiencing large-scale renewable energy development in their region. We'll also hear directly from two councils who are stepping up and helping their communities to create lasting and meaningful outcomes in their region.

We are often asked to recommend legal experts who can brief leaders on the basics of climate risk, legal liability and legislative obligations. If this is something you’ve been looking for, then this webinar is for you (and your leaders!). Charlotte Turner is climate risk specialist and lawyer with Herbert Smith Freehills and a research fellow in the Laureate Program on Global Corporate Climate Accountability. She will share her insights into councils’ duty of care and most pressing climate risks, and answer your questions.

Connecting the dots for urban biodiversity

Three councils will tell us how they are connecting the dots for urban biodiversity. Native bee ecologist and Deputy Mayor of Merri-bek, Dr Jay Iwasaki, will tell us how councils can create pollinator corridors. Researcher Jess Obersby has been investigating urban wetlands in East Gippsland and will share her findings on how to support community environmental stewardship. We’ll also see how in Onkaparinga, South Australia, Rachael Hamilton and her team are improving biodiversity outcomes on council land.
