Training

Governing in the Climate Emergency is for councillors, CEOs and Executive team members.

Cancellations
  • Cancel up to 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the course to receive a full refund or transfer of your ticket to a future round of training.
  • Cancellations received later than 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the course are not eligible for a refund or transfer unless special circumstances apply such as illness, injury, family emergency etc, however, you can transfer your ticket to a future round at the early bird rate.
  • Non-attendance at the first session without prior notice will be deemed a cancellation (unless special circumstances apply such as sudden illness, family emergency etc).

Missing a session
It’s important to attend all of the sessions. If you know ahead of time that you will miss one or more sessions, please consider joining a later round of training, unless you are strongly committed to catching up by:
  • Watching the recording of the session
  • Completing assigned homework
  • Making contact with your group.
In order to complete the course you must attend at least two sessions live and catch up on the other two.

Agreements for participating in the course
If any of the following agreements don’t work for you, or if you would like to request additional agreements, please contact the course coordinator.

Before the sessions, we all agree to:
  • let course coordinator and group members know as far ahead of time as possible if we will unexpectedly miss all or part of a session
  • do our preparation.

During the sessions, we all agree to:
  • be on time and ready to go at the start of the session
  • be in a quiet space where we can concentrate fully (inside, in a private space, not driving)
  • listen actively and avoid distractions (e.g. checking email or phone)
  • respect turn-taking
  • maintain a safe space for learning.

After sessions we all agree to:
  • maintain confidentiality (don’t share what others have said during sessions with others)
  • do our follow-up.
