Celebrating 10 years of councils taking climate emergency action
On 5 December 2016 Darebin City Council made the world's first climate emergency declaration. Since then more than 100 Australian councils have followed Darebin’s lead, representing over 11 million Australians. South Australia and the ACT have also made declarations, as have over 2,300 national, subnational, regional and local government bodies around the world. Local government showed it could lead the way on climate.
We want to hear your stories about your council’s climate emergency journey to date. We are planning to publish a number of videos and case studies through the second half of the year to highlight the achievements and share the learning of climate emergency councils.
These will lead up to a national day of climate emergency conversations in the same week as the anniversary.
We invite you to join us! To make sure you are in the loop, please get in touch and join our mailing list.
